Weather Leave (WEA) should be used for staff scheduled to work during a time we were either delayed or closed. If an employee was not ready, willing and able to work; i.e. they had previously scheduled off for either sick or vacation leave, they do not need to be release from work and use weather leave. In this instance, they will still use their previously scheduled time off and applicable leave balance.
Delay: A staff member did not need to report to the office until 10AM, which was the official re-opening time of university offices. The amount of weather leave needed to fill the gap between the start of their shift and 10AM will vary by individual. This is not an instance where we are looking to keep work time equal, but rather keep individuals whole for the work day until such time as campus has been determined safe to re-open.
In the instance that you had an hourly person report to work this morning at 9AM and begin working, that is the time they began working and should be recorded. Weather leave should be recorded for the time their normal day should have begun till 9AM.
